Who Would Have Thought!

Who would have thought nine years ago when I met the Teresian Sisters that I was going to become one of them? The thought
never crossed my mind at that point or that of my family and friends for that matter. But here I am, nine years later, thinking that there’s nowhere else I could or would rather be.

I met the Teresian Sisters in May of 1996 on my first Encuentros Juveniles Retreat (Youth Encounters) in Miami, FL. After three years of working together with them in Encuentros Juveniles I began a discernment program with them eventually becoming an affiliate in the summer of 1999. Three years later, on August 4, 2002, I entered in Miami and began my journey to a new life with Jesus. My time of novitiate and my apostolic experience in Nicaragua have helped me to grow in relationship with Jesus and confirmed my desire to dedicate my life to and for Him in the Society of St. Teresa of Jesus.

On Sunday, July 24th, 2005, on the feast of Blessed Mercedes Prat the Teresian Sisters, my family and friends joined me in celebrating my First Profession of Vows. The theme… Que Mi Vida Sea Un “Todo Por Jesus,” I Offer My Life…”All For Jesus.”  It is that, that I hope to proclaim with my life as a Teresian Sister, living and doing everything as St. Teresa, St. Henry and so many others have done before me, All For Jesus!

The Mass and ceremony took place in the St. Henry de Osso Chapel in Covington, LA; Fr. Thomas Perrier was the celebrant.
I was joined by my Teresian Sisters, my family, including my aunt who made it all the way from Cuba, and my friends that came
from Miami, Bogalusa, Covington, New Orleans, California and many others that joined me in spirit and prayer. Surrounded by
those that mean the world to me and have been instrumental in helping me grow and in nourishing my vocation, I vowed chastity,
poverty, and obedience and committed “myself with all my heart” to the Society of St. Teresa of Jesus to serve Jesus “in the Church
by prayer, teaching and sacrifice.”

I have since moved to Uvalde where I am now teaching Religion and Computer at Sacred Heart School. I also help with
the parish youth group and the St. Henry de Osso Family Project with a support group for at risk youth and continue my studies.

A heart felt thanks goes out to all of you that helped make this special day possible. May the Lord bless you and keep you always.
I only ask that you continue to pray for me and my perseverance as I continue to pray for you.

The journey with Jesus to becoming a Teresian has been the most thrilling rollercoaster of my life with all of its ups and downs,
and I wait in excitement as the ride continues!
