Provincial Chapter

I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse.  Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live, by loving the Lord, your God, heeding his voice, and holding fast to him.  For that will mean life for you, a long life for you to live on the land which the Lord swore he would give to your ancestors Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. (Dt. 30: 19-20)

      This year of Chapter for the Society of St. Teresa of Jesus has brought us all to focus on our passionate love for God and for all humanity.  On Easter week the Sisters of the Province of St. Francis de Sales got together to do just that by celebrating together our own Provincial Chapter.  We began the Chapter with a beautiful retreat that helped us all to get into the theme for the wee: Choose Life.  Our meetings began with an invocation to the Holy Spirit led by Sister Isabel.  This week in which we celebrate the Risen Christ and the New Life He has won for all, could not have been more appropriate for our Chapter. It was a time for us to look at our own lives, the lives of our communities and province and to reflect on all the signs of Life and on the stones that we may need to roll away in order that we may grow in the passionate love for God and for all humanity.  We are all very grateful for the Life and many blessings God has bestowed upon our province and we look forward to a future full of our choice for Life as we embrace our challenges.  We are grateful for the presence of Sr. Gema Meroño, S.T.J., from the Philippines, who also shared with us the signs of Life of the community there as well as their stones, and were an integral part of our chapter. We are also very grateful for the dedication, willingness and help of Sr. Dorothy Trosclair, O.P. who guided us along the way and helped us to be open to the movement of the Spirit.
