We asked our students what they would tell other teens about Lent. Here are some of their responses. Please add your comments about Lent to the Teen Talk page.

Lent is not the stuff you find in the bottom of your pockets. Lent is the time you give up something you like, for Jesus. I think it's kind of like a test of will -- to see if you want the thing you give up or Jesus. PM

I think that teenagers should fast, sacrifice, and pray. We should try to do all these things because Jesus gave up His life for us. -MG

I think Lent is a time of forgiveness. You should give all you have to Jesus and forgive all those who have hurt you.  - SC

Lent is a time to look over all the things that God has done for us. As we consider all this, we think to ourselves, "If God could give up His only Son Jesus, and Jesus gave up His life, shouldn't we be able to sacrifice something that holds some importance to us?" We shouldn't be selfish or disregard what Jesus has given to us. Now is the time to give back to Jesus and thank Him for the sacrifice He has given us. - AR

My opinion on Lent is that it is a time to be very much one with yourself, to have a lot of prayer time. It is also to see and realize what Jesus did for us. - SM

Look what Jesus did for us and what we do to Him. Yet He still forgives us. - CV

I just have a few things to say to you, you know, teen to teen. Lent is a time of prayer and sacrifice, not a time to say, "Oh I gave this up for Lent and I'm so miserable." No, no, no. Jesus did it for us, and we should be able to do something for Him. Lent is only once a year, so let's make the best of it. Remember that we are Jesus's love! Jesus loves the children, and we should try to make Him proud.LG
