IV
CONSOLIDATION 1927 - 1951
From the 50 to the 75
years of the Society
 |
Young through
your impulses,
old and sensible because of your years
The fire of your eyes stimulates me,
the silver of your brows chastened in combat calms me,
serene equilibrium;
incentive in my inertia,
a brake in my rushing.
Thus my love sees you, breeze and spark
A simple flower and a star,
In your tenderness you join
Dreams worlds and races,
I bless the apostle who, one day
gave you spirit, guide, name and motto.
I love you, Mother mine,
Young and centenary Society.
Ma.
Teresa Visus, stj |

TIME
END OF M. TERESA

iniquity controls you. Difficulties in Mexico, Cuba and the USA. Spain is
proclaimed a republic. The King leaves the country tribulations begin. |
|
1927 -- The
Tertianship in Tortosa. According to a new article added to the
Constitution, a group of 13 sisters begin the Tertianship which “with all
the experience of the religious life and the apostolate form a community
like that of the apostolic community, with the purpose of transforming
themselves into authentic Teresians, living for a while the hidden life with
Christ in God, profoundly and integrating their experiences to their lives”.

A term of government is
prolonged. The World War makes it almost impossible to continue
transatlantic communication, the General Chapter cannot be held. Through
the Nunciature of the Holy See, the term of government is prolonged. The
VII Chapter is held six months after the war. |
1945 - 1951: RECOVERY
AND NEW IMPULSE
FIRST SIX YEARS OF M.
ENRIQUETA SANZ'S ADMINISTRATION
 |
The Society rises again.
Once the World War was over and the first year of the Spanish Postwar had
passed, the Society arose in every aspect. A considerable impulse was made
in academic and professional preparation of the sisters and in the renewal
and expansion of the Society. |
|
Publication and Editions: In
1947 the Magazine “Jesus Maestro" is resumed and the publication of “Desde
la casa Madre” is begun. The life of M. Saturnina is published and the
biographies of Our Founder and several Foundresses are prepared. |
New Restructuring of the
Provinces: A faith Province is erected and dedicated to Mary Immaculate
for the Houses in Portugal first and then for those of Portugal and Angola. |
|
1948. Foundation in Venezuela.
“With God’s help, the desired foundation of a school in Caracas will soon be
a reality”. (Desde la C.M. # 7) |
1950. The Novitiate of
Mexico is reestablished permanently. |
|
1949. Angola! The
Society becomes Missionary.
Some buildings here... others there...
some, a few, covered with slates, more with straw. Is this the field? Yes...
Blacks and more blacks, large, dark eyes and thick lips, friendly smiles full of
affection. This is the harvest.
The new workers? Look at them. They are the five lucky ones, messengers of the
peace of Christ.
On a Saturday, the 3rd of December, they arrived at
Bela-Vista. Happy Providence – Under the double protection of Mary Immaculate
and St. Francis Xavier, they began their apostolate. With what great pleasure
they now remember the incidents of the trip, that journey of 13 days from their
last farewell to the their native country and their first greeting to the
Mission. A short rest on the island of San Tome, green and picturesque. They
would have stayed there. Large groups of little black children invaded the
“Mozambique” showing the travelers the colorful specialties of their country.
What great desires to beautify those souls with the grace of God!
What is life like in the Mission? Sacrifices... deprivations... but who thinks
of this? There are many souls hungering for Jesus, many sick bodies hoping for
relief... many young girls anxious for instruction (Jesus Maestro, # 302)
