Ascension of the Lord
ALLELUIA! ALLELUIA!
ALLELUIA!
This
is a joyful day in the faith life of the Church and of every Christian
around the world. This is the day when the promise of new life,
salvation and redemption is revealed in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The darkness we experienced with the Lord in the past three days is no
longer here, for the Light today shines in the heart of all believers, of
the hopeless, the downcast, the suffering and of those who wait.
A melody of love, joy and
hope resonates all around us on Easter Sunday, uniting all creatures with
the One who defeated death and opened our eyes to the mystery of LOVE. It
is the love that empowered Jesus to bear the unbearable and to keep him
focused in hope rather than in despair, in trust rather than in
bitterness, and in forgiveness rather than in hatred. That is, Jesus in
the midst of the pain and the suffering, refused to let sin triumph over
the gift of the true love that fulfills our longing to be united with God,
with every brother and sister, and with all living creatures.
Let us always remember,
however, that there would be no Easter without the Passion. Otherwise,
the whole promise of the Incarnation of Jesus would make no sense. As St.
Paul in Colossians says, “For you have died, and your life is hidden with
Christ in God. When Christ your life appears, then you too will appear
with him in glory.” (Col 3: 1-4)
This is a day of HOPE, of realizing that
our salvation is at hand, that we were created to enjoy the eternal glory
and life with our God. Easter is the passage of old life to new life, it
is indeed a death to what our world dictates and to the moments of
blindness in our lives, so that we may rise again to a deeper revelation
of who God is in us and who we are called to be as His sons and
daughters.
Every day can be Easter!
Let us then unveil the darkness, let the light shine and let HOPE and LOVE
lead us to proclaim what we have seen and we have heard.
Rejoice and be glad! JESUS IS RISEN
TODAY in you and in me!!!!!
